of 110,993.6 sq km
and a population
of almost 8 million people, Bulgaria is one of the most

countries on the Balkans. Situated in the heart of the
so-called
Balkan
Peninsula, its
strategic location has been favorable for its cultural

largest Bulgarian city with population of almost 1.4
million people, Sofia is a capital
city,

north border with Romania. In the west Bulgaria borders
on with Serbia and Macedonia, and in the south - with
Greece and Turkey. In the east the Black Sea makes such
coastal cities as Varna, Bourgas, Sozopol and resorts
like Golden Sands, Albena and Sunny Beach
extremely bustling during the
summer season.
Bulgaria also offers rest opportunities for the
lovers of winter sports. Such winter resorts as Bansko,
Borovets and Pamporovo offer convenient hotels

language of the
country is Bulgarian,
which is based on Cyrillic alphabet.
Although the traditional religion in
Bulgaria is Eastern Orthodox Christianity, there
is a religious freedom for other denominations.
March 3 is
Bulgarian
National
holiday, when
people celebrate the day of the Bulgaria’s
Liberation from Ottoman yoke.

Bulgarian climate
is moderate continental
with influence from the Black Sea
in the east and from
Mediterranean in the south. The temperatures
